Once again, last night in far away Los Angeles, USA, another feather was added to the honors cap of Hajia Habiba Abubakar for her humanitarian service for the elderly and the poor, the African Legacy Award is the latest of such that will be sharing space on her honors and awards cabinet with others.
In her acceptance speech at the event, she said,” It is a great pleasure to be here in Los Angeles to receive this humanitarian award. In 2006 when I started this NGO I never thought it would be this big because I was simply doing what I love, my passion, it was never meant for personal recognition or award purposes.
Thank God today, Foundation of the Elderly and the Poor is reaching a lot of places with many fans around the world. It has gone far and wide, I am delighted, I feel proud of myself, and I stand here today to donate a plot of land in Abuja Airport road to build a subsidized School for the less privileged children. If Schools like this exist in Nigeria it will help many families a lot,” she said.
A plot of land on a five hectors of land purchased for N250m to build a school and an elderly home for the less privileged is sure a humanitarian gesture. Such was the ovation and applause from the audience that the organisers had to appeal to the crowd to cut short the thunderous ovation before the event could continue. The organisers in giving Kudos to Habiba Abubakar, said, this is simply the best service that can be done for humanity and posterity.
